Irish Ferries ‘Isle of Innisfree’ drydock fit-out

In November 2021 we surveyed the new Irish Ferries ship The Isle of Innisfree, which was to operate between Dover and Calais in the New Year.
In early December 2021 we where glad to be awarded the contract, to manufacture and install signs in Dunkirk, as part of the Irish Ferries Drydock fit-out.
The task ahead was to refurbish 6 levels on a ship over a 3 week period and in the middle of a pandemic with heavy restrictions on travel, a challenge was on the horizon.
We worked along side the Irish Ferries design teams to produce a combination of large format printed vinyl wallpapers, to cover existing areas, promoting the companies services and in conjunction with directional signs added to the task that lay ahead.
The print studio here at Steve Marsh Design had a full task ahead of them to print and manufacture an assortment of signage, making sure they where ready in time for the install team to take with them. With the knowledge whilst on board the vessel they could not come back for any extra signs, so team work was paramount.
We had to make sure the longevity of the signage was durable for each location on the vessel, all of the printed media was overlaid with scuff resistant material laminate and printed with a eco-friendly printing ink system.
All of these works have been manufactured by Steve Marsh Design and installed by our team of skilled fitters, not without its challenges the project was completed on time.
“With the Covid-19 rules at the time we were unable to leave the ship whilst onboard, staying in a hotel was not an option open to us, so we were grateful for Irish Ferries to allow our install team to use the crew quarters.”
